Our trades training program is happy to announce a wide collection of upcoming courses that net participants certifications and college credits through the University of Alaska Southeast.
Upcoming Courses:
December 7 & 8, 2020: Introduction to Mechanic Shop Work
Participants will learn how to work in a mechanic shop. Students will learn about safety requirements, how to use the tools found in a shop, and even get to operate the vehicle lift (No certifications nor college credit).
January 11-16, 2021: Diesel Engines Simplified
Participants learn the basics of diesel engine mechanics while earning 3 UAS credits. Students work in teams to rebuild an engine over the course of the week and will listen to it roar to life on the last day!
January 11-16, 2021: Introduction to the Trades
Participants will learn all about the tools, materials, and jobs in the trades. They will earn OSHA 10 and National Construction Certifications and 3 college credits. This class meets the prerequisites needed to take most construction classes at UAS.
March 8-12, 2021: Residential Building Science and Safety Week
Residential Building Science is replacing our previous course ‘Cold Climate Construction.’ This new class covers the theory behind everything you need to build in Alaska. Safety Week comes with 3 certifications: OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and Forklift Certifications. Students also learn the safe use of scaffolding and fall protection.
